Blue Horizon Lodge is a small operation taking only six anglers per week. Blue Horizon is unique; it is the only lodge in the world dedicated to Fly-fishing for permit. The permit fishing is as good as it gets.

The accommodations are rustic with a no frill approach, but you will find your host Lincoln Westby and his staff eager to please, ensuring a delightful trip. The lodge features three private cabanas, each with its own front porch, shower and bathroom. A generator supplies electricity. The food is a combination of traditional Belizean dishes and fresh seafood. Fresh vegetables and fruit are incorporated in meals, as Dangriga is in the heart of Belize�s agricultural region. Plenty of cold Belikin beer is always available as well as soft drinks and fruit juice.

Host Lincoln Westby and his Belizean captains are the most talented, experienced and professional guides in the country. Throughout the seasons, many Permit have been landed at Blue Horizon Lodge.

Most of the fishing is close to the lodge as the lodge sits virtually in the middle of 100�s of flats. The lodge uses three panga skiffs, complete with casting platforms. Most fishing at Blue Horizon Lodge is by foot, over flats that are solid and easily waded.The flats of Belize, generally, run in a north-south direction. Typically, they are narrow flats, 50 to 200 feet wide that steeply rise from the bottom to a depth of 6 inches on the east side with a long taper to the west side to deeper water. These flats can run 100 feet to 5 miles long. The permit are usually tailing down that line throughout the high tide curve. Like all of the Pelican range, the water is crystal clear with visibility at well over 100 feet.

Fly fisherman come from all over the world to experience the heart-pounding thill of hooking the elusive permit, tarpon, snook or bonefish. Many fisherman will even earn the catch-and-release Grand Slam bragging rights!

To reach Blue Horizon Lodge you will fly into Belize City, Belize. After you clear immigrations and customs you will be met by the lodge�s logistic coordinator, usually Margie. Margie will assists you in arranging your twenty-minute to Dangriga (also known as Stann Creek) where you will be met by another lodge logistic coordinator and driven to the boat ramp for a pleasant fifty minute boat ride east to the Lodge.

Once you arrive at the lodge you will have time to get settled and prepared for the next days of fishing. Days two through six you will spend fishing the living waters of Southern Belize. On day seven you will catch your boat transfer back to Dangriga and then your flight back to Belize City.
