Providence Atoll

An extremely remote and incomparable fly-fishing destination.

Providence Atoll is located approximately 380 miles Southwest of Mahé and is just short of being the most southerly atoll (Farquhar has that honor) in the Seychelles Islands. This sanctuary has remained largely untouched over the centuries.

Providence Atoll offers fly fishermen the opportunity to fish from the skiff or wade and sight-fish 27 miles of pristine sand and turtle grass flats, enormous lagoon systems, channels, and surf zones while targeting a multitude of species, including Giant Trevally (GTs). Providence is only one of two fisheries in the Seychelles where anglers can consistently target bumphead parrotfish on the flats.

The diversity of fishing areas and the large number of species available for anglers to target makes Providence Atoll a true fly-fishing wilderness.

Providence is accessed by the Maya Dugong, a 130’ expedition vessel. Originally built as a research vessel by the Canadian Government in 1966, the Maya Dugong was completely retrofitted in the early 2000s and again in 2009 to accommodate charters. As of this writing, the Maya Dugong is undergoing a light refurbishment for the 2026 season.

The Maya Dugong boasts seven spacious, air-conditioned guest cabins. Each cabin features an en-suite bathroom with a home-style shower, toilet, and lavatory. Cabins are cleaned daily by the hostesses.

To say that it is a wild place is an understatement. Providence is an amazing location and one of the last truly unspoiled fishing destinations left on planet Earth
