Silver King Lodge Costa Rica
Located in the northeast corner of Costa Rica and within the second largest rain forest preserve in the country, lies the Colorado River. This river is long famous for fine fishing for Tarpon and Snook.
Situated within this lush rain forest is the Silver King Lodge Costa Rica. Clearly, this is the place you want to be out of the four main lodges located at the mouth of the Colorado River.
Fishing
Tarpon are taken all year, but the best season is in the spring and summer. Although tarpon are the glamour fish here, the Colorado River is also famous for its snook. Snook are taken in the river and creeks all year, but especially late summer through November.
The native guides use 19 foot Carolina skiffs for most river fishing adventures. For Tarpon, the guides will usually go beyond the greenish-brown water of the river mouth until the water turns blue outside, which is not far from shore. When the weather is too rough to fish outside, you can fish in the river and creek mouths. 17 foot aluminum canoes are available for those who would like to fish the areas to “skinny” for conventional craft. There is a myriad of small lagoons and creeks in the backwaters all around the lodge. These are good areas to fish for the Guapote (similar to a Peacock Bass), Machaca (Shad), and Mojarra (Bream).
The lodge uses 23 foot center console open fisherman for the offshore fishery, which offers some big surprises for those wanting to try something different. A variety of other fish such as yellow fin tuna, black fin, sailfish and dorado are abundant. For every five day or more fishing package, the angler receives one day of offshore fishing.
Lodging
Silver King Lodge Costa Rica is a first Class Lodge in every way. Spacious duplex cabins are well constructed of native woods and are inter-connected with the rest of the lodge with covered walkways. All the extra large rooms contain two full sized beds, ceiling fans, and a private tiled bath with hot water. The delicious gourmet meals are served family style and are presented very nicely. For those tired muscles after a hard day of fishing, there is an extra large Jacuzzi for guests to relax in.
Rates & Information
The prices for this great lodge are very reasonable and packages are all-inclusive. Three full days of fishing costs $3,085.00 each for double occupancy while single occupancy is $3,960 each. Extra days cost $585.00 pp at double occupancy and $645.00 pp at single occupancy. Non-fisherman rates are $1,300.00 pp with an additional $200.00 for extra days pp.
In almost all cases, you will arrive in San Jose the day before you visit the lodge because of air schedules (We can arrange a charter aircraft if you want to be there sooner). These rates include reception at the airport, ground transfers,round trip scheduled air service to the lodge, accommodation at the lodge based upon double occupancy, meals complimentary laundry service,complimentary wine with dinner, local liquors, & loaner rods & reels. ot included are tips, fishing license ($25.00), fishing lures, imported drinks, departure taxes.
All single fisherman will receive the double occupancy rate, if they are willing to share a room and a boat when necessary.
The most common booked months are September, October, March, April and May. If you would like to book one of these particular months, call at the earliest convenience as these months sell out the fastest.
