| January and the first weeks of February are usually calm but there is always a chance of a cold front. Generally bone and tarpon fishing is good. Great time for barracuda. | ||||||||||||
| * The weather can be windy in late February, March, and early April. Despite the wind, this is an excellent time for permit. Tarpon will be on the flats if it isn't too windy. You still can find smaller tarpon in the lagoons. Bone fishing is good. | ||||||||||||
| Late April through May tends to be hot with only light breezes. Migratory tarpon start showing up in April and are usually on the reefs and flats by May. Big schools of bonefish are around. | ||||||||||||
| + You can find tarpon here throughout the year, but July and August is the height of the tarpon season. The weather is usually calm and warm and the fishing is great! There is plenty of space available this time of the year, so call Leisure Time Travel and come on down! | ||||||||||||
| Hurricane season starts in June and ends in November. Peak hurricane months are August, September, and October. This is a great time to fish, but it is wise to purchase trip insurance! During a trip in November of 1993, I personally caught six permit on the Turneffe Atoll. | ||||||||||||
| October can be great but it's usually rainy. The offshore islands tend to get less rain than the mainland. Lots of big fish still on the flats including permit. The winds start picking up in late November but there are still plenty of fish on the flats including barracuda, jacks, and ladyfish. December/January is the best time of the year to fish the reef. | ||||||||||||
